I called this image ‘Blue Lake’ as my jaw dropped when I saw the colour of the water when driving past in my campervan. As I later found out, this is a man-made lake called Lake Ruataniwha, located in the Mackenzie Basin in New Zealand’s South Island. The sun was just dipping behind the mountains in the distance and the water was like a blue-tinted mirror reflecting the cloudy sky. To me, this image is all about the textures from the clouds which give the shot a painterly feel.
