Sawyer Mini Water Filtration System
This is a brilliant little piece of travel kit and yet it might save your life. You’ve guessed it, it’s a water filter but it’s small and compact and weighs next to nothing so why wouldn’t you carry one. It fits in the palm of your hand and it has been tested to the highest levels of filtration. For camping or travelling whether it’s river water or tap water that can’t be trusted this little filter will keep you right. I’ve had it with me as part of my kit in various situations and it hasn’t failed me yet. It can be used in multiple ways which I won’t bore you with but if you want to find out more check it out. You never know when you may need it.
Lowe Alpine 35/45 Rucksack
Disclaimer – I bought this as it’s a backpack, not a camera bag!
Considering what I and this rucksack have been through it’s probably holding up better than I am. I originally purchased this backpack to make up for the failings of a camera bag on hikes. Camera bags are great for camera gear but leave no room for the essentials required when hiking in the wilderness. I have yet to find one bag that fits all but adding a camera pouch to this rucksack solved a lot of problems for me. As it ended up I used this rucksack not only on two Camino’s but it was my main bag for the round the world trip.
I love the fact that the volume is expandable but still stops me from carrying from too much weight by packing unnecessary things. The full-back ventilation is a godsend for me as I can be a sweaty bugger even in cool climates. The back is adjustable so you are able to find the best fit for your size. This also helps to keep it comfortable for the shoulders. I have been able to cram all my gear into the pack and the zips haven’t failed me yet. Honestly, with the abuse I have given this backpack I can’t believe it’s not in bits. I think new versions have been released but if they are equal to the quality of this I would not hesitate to recommend it.
